Background Information
When we received a challenge regarding authenticity, Public Relations Manager, Denise Lovette decided this information might be of interest to our subscribers.
In early 1998 Bill Andrews computerized service records for his plumbing company. The computer guy was buddies with the Nike Shoe company webmaster who was switching them from “intranet” to something called the “World Wide Web” internet.
Barbara Andrews was at the time, a columnist for both Dog World and the elite Kennel Review dog show magazine. Long story short, in 1998 the Andrews launched www.TheDogPlace.org {Ref #1} which was the world’s first public website. Free peer-reviewed facts on canine nutrition and genetics, show and obedience training, and the health risks of over-vaccination and heartworm prevention.
The Andrews became interested in video production as an educational tool. VIE (Video Express International) video-taped National Specialty dog shows, Westminster, and the Crufts Dog Show in England.
Mrs. Andrews is a believer in “no such thing as coincidence” when it matters. Lana Tsan, a NYC stock broker, called to order every video VIE produced. Lana was a Chinese diplomat and close friend of China's President Lee Teng-hui. Tsan's political power enabled TheDogPlace.org to become the first website to which the people of China had access. In addition, Lana served on the NetPlaces Science and Advisory Board until her death.
www.TheDogPress.com {Ref #2} (2002) was the world’s first dog news site. Then, having traveled so much doing seminars for AKC Judges Education, Mrs. Andrews launched www.TheJudgesPlace.com {Ref #3} in 2005. It was of course, the first online AKC Judges’ Education platform.
As each of these first-in-category websites dominated the "World Wide Web" it all came together as the NetplacesNetwork.
No ‘puppies for sale’ in any NetPlaces site but you will find veterinary-authored, peer-reviewed information to help you keep your puppy healthy and if so inclined, to be a successful breeder and dog show competitor. That was our goal in 1998 and nothing has changed.
For the record and unlike most websites, we never share subscriber information but do include a bio on every writer and contact email for guest contributors. Also unique is the NetPlaces Network’s Science And Advisory Board comprised of exceptionally credentialed breeders, dog show judges, medical and veterinary authorities.
